Kicking-off 2024
A wonderful energy has filled the first few weeks of the 2024 school year. The mornings have been filled with warm welcomes, smiles and hugs, a ritual I hope we continue the whole year through.
Slow time
Watching the children arrive at school in the mornings reminds me of those sweet mornings when my boys were very young. We had a rhythmic morning routine and if we were in the car on time we were able to drive through the university and watch the kangaroos. While my eye was usually on the clock, for that morning and in that moment… time slowed. The boys, oblivious to the demands of time, were content soaking up the wonders the world offers them. I realise now, what a gift those precious moments were. Our lives can become so busy that we can sometimes lose sight of the importance of slow time. Children navigate their world at a different rate to busy adults. We move in the world carrying with us never ending ‘to-do’ lists. Children move slowly, observing, learning and absorbing all that surrounds them. One of the greatest gifts we can give our children and adolescents (and ourselves) is being present for our little ones.
Looking forward to a challenge in 2024
Thank you to the staff and parents of Caboolture Montessori School for welcoming me to your community. Aside from the weather events, it has been a great start to the school year. I look forward to getting to know more of you as this year of learning unfolds. I also look forward to sharing with you my work on current and future projects as well as some of the leadership challenges that arise along the way. While these challenging learning experiences have shaped my leadership, I still believe there is no greater leadership challenge than parenting!
With understanding and admiration for all you do each day in your role as parents.
Warm regards,
Chiray
