A CMS Montessori Adolescent Program
CMS Adolescent Program
The Adolescent Program is under preparation at at Caboolture Montessori School (CMS), our research includes what we know parents and students want, what the new context will look like and how the educators and administrators will execute the program and environment to meet possible futures. The details of the program highlight the school ethos and values and show capacity in providing students a strong foundation in the new learning arena.
Planning any business in today’s climate presents questions and challenges. Considerations must address the rise of disruptive technology and increasingly demanding regulatory requirements. Looking at how we prepare for these ‘opportunities’ or challenges will establish a platform that may give a better sense of security.
Scanning global events and ways that businesses addresses or even pre-empt some of the changes will be a strategy that will help with the determination of some selected pathways forward in our Adolescent school.
Adolescent skills
The research being completed at the Caboolture Montessori School for an Adolescent Program is ongoing and addressing a number of special skills. We speak of developing soft skills of which there are so many. There is creativity, collaboration, problem solving, communication, self-motivation. There’s leadership, flexibility, time management, work ethic and ability to receive and provide constructive feedback. This sounds really lovely, but how do we build this platform of skills in young people. We see that so much is already done for them and they only have rare opportunities to experience the responsibility of delving into these. We are examining these elements and how to transform a secondary context that supports possible futures, technology, our humanity and sustainability of life, including these soft skills in our adolescent program.
The right environment
The answer is an environment that provides and expects from all: respect, accountability, discipline leading to freedoms, choices attached to consequences and explicit mentoring. Soft skills are a product of this type of environment added to a rigorous educational context to connect required knowledge with skills and strategies. It’s brave, it’s gradual, but we know our #montessorikids can do it.
